What is sublimation? What is Sublimation Transfer Printing? How To?

Sublimation, as its dictionary meaning is, is the process of a solid substance changing directly from solid to gaseous state without turning into liquid, with the application of heat.

(Like coal burning and turning into smoke…) This is how the chemical reaction in sublimation, or transfer printing, occurs with digital printing inks. Sublimation paint particles are present in the sublimation paint in solid form as micro particles.

Sublimation dye is transferred onto transfer printing papers via digital printing machines. Transfer printing papers are placed on the surface to be printed, When pressed under a predetermined temperature with transfer printing machines, the solid sublimation dye particles in the form of micro particles on the transfer paper turn into a gaseous state (The printed fabric traps the dye on the transfer printing paper, thus printing is achieved.)

If polyester molecules are present in the environment, it turns into a gaseous state. The passing dye dyes the polyester molecules.

If the surface to be printed does not contain polyester, the dye that turns into a gas will mix with the air. As can be understood from here, the products to be printed with the sublimation transfer method must have polyester and polyamide molecules on them. Otherwise, transfer cannot be achieved.
